this is probably one of the best paintings I've made to date, actually, taking into account size and time involved. I used a rather small brush for all of these to get the detail necessary and it turned out to work very well.

The beak-looking mouthparts are modified legs that contain internal protrusing ribs which are rubbed against eachother to produce sound. In conjunction with a diaphragm and various other mouthparts they produce a wide array of sounds, many of which are startlingly speechlike.
