Gibbous Inhabitor

Despite its fearsome appearance, this apparition is a constructed projection. The actual body of the creature lies immobile underground, hence the apparition's apparent patrolling of a specific piece of land. It is speculated that this is due to a limitation of the creature's ability to project over a distance, but like with all knowledge about the PG organ, this information is speculative at best.

The apparition, despite being mostly gaseous, is far from harmless. It internally combusts, for reasons unknown, and can deliver severe burn along with its bite. It is not known how the PG organ has been adapted to actively concentrate and hold matter into a semi-corporeal projection, nor why, as it seems immensely uneconomical for the creature.

Sample attempts have been made but have not been successful, due to the creature's propensity to disintegrate upon observation.
